Collection: Dibblee Geologic Maps

In over 60 years of active mapping, Thomas Wilson Dibblee, Jr., created a true California legacy with his geologic maps and reports. They provide an unsurpassed regional perspective that contributes a wealth of locally important information. His knowledge of regional stratigraphy, structure, and paleontology was foundational to our current understanding of California’s geology. The magnitude, integrity, and permanence of Dibblee’s geologic mapping of one-quarter of California are unprecedented.

We recommend filtering by COUNTY and using the Index Map to view the maps in adjacent areas. The Index Map will open in a separate tab.

We carry two digital formats of Dibblee geologic maps available: GeoTIFF and PDF. The GeoTIFF format is a georeferenced raster image and is recommended for use in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) and the PDF format features geospatial vector and raster data that are recommended for use in image editing (e.g. Illustrator).
